Benefits of Surah al-Waqi’ah (The Event)

This surah was revealed in Makkah and it has 96 ayaat. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) has said that a person who recites this surah will not be from among the absent-minded ones. Poverty does not come near this person. Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) said that the one who recites surah al-Waqi’ah will have a shining face of the Day of Reckoning. It is narrated from Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that whoever recites this surah on every Friday, will be from those whom Allah (s.w.t.) loves and he will be loved by people also. He will be free from troubles and poverty and will be counted from the loyal companions of Imam Ali (a.s.). Reciting this surah on a dead person leads to all his sins being forgiven and if the person is on his deathbed then he will die with ease.  Keeping this surah in one’s possession is a means of increase in sustenance.
